Basko Polje near Baska Voda in Croatia |
Now when it rains almost every day I like looking at my summer photos.
This year we spent two weeks in Croatia. I remember when we reached Zagreb we decided on taking a road not a motorway. "It'll be better, you will see." - said my husband. "OK." - I agreed and added. "Yes, great. We can see more of Croatia then." And so we drove southward towards Makarska and Dalmacija.
This tiny twisting thread in the picture is our road and the mountain chain we are crossing is the VELEBID. "What a view!" - we cried out delighted.
On leaving the Velebid behind we suddenly found ourselved on the very motorway we wanted to omit How did it happen? We had no idea, but it didn not really matter.
Quite easily we approached Basko Polje - a campsite where we stayed

Basko Polje. One of many beaches with the Biokovo mountains in the background. |
Botanical Garden Kotisina in the Biokovo mountains. Situated above Makarska around 500 metres above sea level. The garden is placed only eight kilometres from our campsite. It was so near that we had to go there.
You can see the island Hvar and peninsula Peljesac in the background. (The photo was taken from the inside of the ruins of fortress in the Garden Kotisina.)
An enchanting little church in the setting of old trees. How picturesque scenery.
One day going west from Baska Voda in the direction of Split we came to a river flowing through its canyon. It was the Cetina. Delightful, isn't it?
I found these flowers growing on the bank of the Cetina.
Near the entry to the main beach Zlatni Rat in Bol on the island Brac.
The Adriatic taken from the beach Zlatni Rat on Brac in the direction of the island Hvar visible in the background.
What else? I choose these three photos below showing historical places in the vicinity: Split, Trogir and Salona.
Salona, near Split.
Ruins of ancient Roman city.
Old town in Trogir, near Split.
And Split with most famous Diocletian's Palace.
Going home.
Yet a quick look at the Velebid. View from the motorway.
