64. What has happened to Philip

The weather has looked promising this morning. The sun was beginnig to shine more and more through the clouds that covered the sky before. Soon only few cloudlets were floating far on the horizon. It's going to be a lovely day, I thought,

... when suddenly I realised there was no Philip in the room. You know, Philip - my new doll. He was neither in his bed nor on the table where he used to sit; he was not even on the sill of the window he looked through so often. His new pillow disappeared too, I noticed.

H'm, there was still that fabric lying on the table I sewed Philip's pillow from.

I looked and saw some funny foxes playing in the dark forest that formed the pattern of the fabric. Quite a nice and fairy-tale scene that appealed to Philip, I remembered suddenly, 
so much. The foxes in the fabric looked at me curiously...

Is it possible that he walked to the forest himself?

And indeed I found Philip in the forest. I saw him lurking under a big tree.

First he looked for the foxes, said Philip later, but soon he got tired.

You were lucky, you might have met boars seeking food in this place.

Philip is a Waldorf  style boy-doll entirely handmade by me. 

He is 36 cm tall (14 inches).

He is all made from natural high quality materials:a special Swiss cotton jersey designed for dollmakers, clean washed natural sheepswool, embroidered threads and wool.

His clothes are sewn or handknit by me using natural good quality materials: cotton, velvet and wool.

I knew Philip liked sleeping so I made him a cotton pyjama: 
a blouse in a fox pattern (foxes again!)  and matching light-blue trousers 
sewn from cotton jersey.

He usually puts on a grey cotton T-shirt and dark-blue velvet trousers. 

The T-shirt is easy to put on since it is cut at the back and has snap fasteners 
with wood buttons.

I sewed on a big pocket on his trousers for collecting treasures like shells, pebbles, 

different strings and other things Philip would hopefully find on his walks.

Obviously he possesses colourful knickers sewn from cotton jersey and short socks.

Philip's shoes are sewn from navy wool. They have a lemon linen and shoe-laces of the same colour. The laces are long enough to make it easy to tie them. I stitched down a button on each shoe to easily distinguish the right shoe from the left one (a good exercise for a child playing with a doll, isn't it?). They are very comfortable, says Philip.

When it is cold Philip puts on a wool cardigan, a hat and a neckerchief 
to protect from wind or just for fun.

In the end I must mention that Philip has also got a woolen ball to play with and this famous pillow which caused him to walk to the forest and look for the foxes at night.

54. "The doll's wardrobe" or a delayed Day 5 in "Puppenmitmacherei" project

It snowed yesterday morning for the first time this autumn. For a short while we had lovely white fresh snow which sadly melted away quickly. It seems winter is slowly approaching.

So I am glad my doll already has clothes.

Not only has she clothes, she has also her name. I could say "at last!", because as a matter of fact I do not like talking about my dolls namelessly. Usually when I make a doll, her name pops up together with the doll herself. 

Obviously it was different this time, since I  concentrated more on the construction,
technique and viewing blogs of the colleagues participating in the project.

However at times I pondered on the name of my doll who was slowly taking shape. It seemed to me that she downright required more than just calling her "doll" or "dolly"...

And I called her Amy. 

I can see that Amelia enjoys coloured clothes, above all red and yellow as her favourites. It appeals to me, especially that she likes yellow reminding of the sunny summer.

Do you agree with me that Amy looks like a little child in appearance? 

I will try to accentuate this in her clothes. 

First I made her a cotton dress in her favourite colour (red, of course). Then I hand knitted warm bootees from wool in a shade of brown and red. In addition I made lovely socks from cotton jersey in the colour of the hot summer sun. When I dressed  her Amy looked really happy.

Later I found some red wool just to knit Amy's cardigan and from light alpaca I knitted a sweet bonnet and a big warm shawl. I do hope Amy will gladly wear it when the weather changes and winter comes.

Sometimes Amy sits on the book and watches illustrations, especially those with children. 

It seems she would love to play with them.

Well, the project is about to finish soon and I am curious to know what will happen to Amy and what she will be doing in the future.

49. Lettie. A Joyful Doll

This is  Lettie, my new doll I hand made in a Waldorf style.

As you can see she has brown eyes, and her hair is pink. Lettie's complexion is darker than my other dolls', as her face and body are in a warm light brown colour.

When I saw her for the first time, she was sitting under the tree near a little creek.

Oh, surely she noticed me. She moved and sat close to the stream... 
and after a while she looked at me curiously.

"Hi, I like playing outdoors, especially when it is as warm as today." - I heard her speaking.

"Do you really?" - I said thinking that her voice did not surprise me at all. It sounded cheerful and a bit resonant.

"Yes, I do." - answered she.

"Do you know my name?" -  she was inquiring.

No, I don't know. How should I know? There are so many names. No, I can't say...

"I am Lettie. That is my name." - she declared proudly.

Apparently she looked very satisfied with her name.

Lettie looked around and sat on the grass. She liked the place. 
There were plenty of spring flowers round about with some last year's leaves scattered in places.

"I'm going to play now." - she said to herself.

Lettie is about 14" tall. She is all made from natural high quality materials that are wonderful to work and play with.

To make Lettie I used the following materials:

* body - a special cotton jersey designed for dollmakers (Swiss cotton with Oko-Tex label) in a warm light brown colour;

* stuffing - from top to toe the doll is firmly stuffed with clean carded sheepswool. That is why she is soft and warm.

* eyes, nose and lips - embroidered with floss in different colours;

* cheeks - delicately coloured with red wax crayon;

* HAIR - Lettie has rich pink mohair hair. I made it from beautiful soft and extra long fibre mohair in a pale pink shade (DollyMo Wild Mohair). Mohair is hand dyed using natural dyes Pink (little oke dolls). The doll's hairstyle can be easily changed, and it needs to be finger styled. From time to time you can comb her hair using a comb with rare teeth to make it more fluffy or longer.

Lettie's clothes are as follows:

* light dress - sewn from a delicate cotton, embellished with a white ricrac edging and a light pink lace.  The dress is easy to put on since it is cut at the back. It has snap fasteners with complementary beautiful vintage mother of pearl buttons 

* spring turquoise cardigan - hand knitted (100% cotton);

* bootees - hand knit (adopting LePouPz pattern). I used a cotton yarn in a warm apricot shade. The bootees are embellished with two ribbons and vintage mother of pearl buttons.

* hat - hand knit from the same warm apricot cotton yarn I used for the bootees;

* hair-slide in an apricot-orange shade;

* as a Waldorf doll Lettie wears a pair of blue polka-dot panties.

I made Lettie with a lot of love, many careful stitches and attention to detail.

48. The doll's dream

First thing in the morning Tosia-Reddie asked me a question. It was about colours.

"What is your favourite colour? - she asked.

I was just thinking what to answer when Tosia-Reddie said. 

"As for me I like PINK. It is the loveliest colour on our planette."

Then she looked critically at herself and sighed deeply, because she had no pink clothes at all. Not a single item.

" You do not like this colour, do you?" - she glanced at me.

"No, why..." - started I - I like pink, but in small doses... I think."

Tosia-Reddie continued. - "When one looks at pink flowers with green leaves, they are so beautiful... I need a pink scarf or shoes or just a bootee. It's my dream."

"Well, if pink is your favourite colour, let's try and make something. Perhaps we should start with the bootees. They are easy to make." - I said.
And so I made her pink bootees using a LesPouPz pattern.

Then I decided to make her a new dress with pink little flowers and green leaves. I embellished it with a pinkish lace and two vintage mother of pearl buttons afterwards. It looked pretty and simple. 

Since I had a white corduroy with a delicate floral pattern I thought I might use it for bloomers.

A combination of pink and green is pretty I thought. (Well, nature probably does its best.) May I decide on a pink scarf and green hat? Well, as you will see I have made a warm shawlette in the end.

I saw a look of rapture on Tosia-Reddie's face. She saw a stack of CDs on the table. There are lots of them since we often listen to music. The dolly climbed up the pile and sat comfortably on the top swinging her legs with satisfaction.

Tosia-Reddie's dream came true.

Tosia-Reddie is 14 inches tall. She is all made from natural high quality materials: a special swiss cotton jersey designed for dollmakers, clean washed sheepswool, hand embroidered face and certified mohair boucle for hair specially produced for doll making. I made her hair by crocheting the bouclez-loop cap with the use of Agnieszka Nowak's technique (Lalinda). Tosia-Rudzia comes with two sets of clothing. They are made from natural good quality materials: cotton, corduroy, velvet, wool and a combination of cotton and bamboo yarn. And she has a little basket for collecting treasures.

Tosia-Reddie has already found a lovely home where she will get lots of love from her new little friends.

44. Maya is leaving...

This is one of the latest photos of Maya taken before her journey. 

YES! 
Maya has found a new family of her own. Soon she will meet them. She is happy. She is so excited but also a bit anxious, so she sits on the bed and starts playing with Marianne's little basket.

H'm... I'm beginning to think that I will give her this basket. Her journey will be nicer then. "What do you think?" - I ask Marianne. "But of course. Yes, you're right." - she nods

Apart from the clothes I have made earlier Maya gets a lovely woolen cardigan, colourful leggings nd warm bootees. "They will be very useful for the upcoming winter." - I say to Maya and wink at her. The dolls giggle and Marianne notices. "And your hair is longer Maya. Your plaits are lovely."

42. Maya wants to play

Maya is a Waldorf inspired doll. It is a cloth doll.

She is about 14 inches tall. Maya is all made from natural high quality materials: a special swiss cotton jersey designed for dollmakers, clean washed sheepswool, hand embroidered face and certified woolen mohair for hair specially produced for doll making.

As she is made of sheepswool. Maya is soft, warm and nice to the touch. It is very pleasing to hold her and cuddle. She smells of home and gives her little friend a sense of security.

Maya's clothes are made from natural good quality materials. 

She has a blue cotton dress embellished with a colourful ribbon, her sleeves have a white ricrac edging. Maya's dress is easy to put on since it is cut at the back. It has snap fasteners with complementary buttons.

And of course as a Waldorf doll Maya wears a pair of little cotton underpants. 

She has pulled on elastic waisted loose trousers with a white ricrac edging and lovely buttons as embellisment. The trousers are white with green leaves. 

Maya also has violet mohair bootees I hand knitted using little jenny wren pattern. 

I took the same yarn to crochet Maya's band to tie around her hair. 

Maya has hair in brushed mohair.

41. MAYA, a new Waldorf style doll

I'd like to introduce you to Maya. She is my new doll I hand made in a Waldorf style.

Maya is a sweet little girl standing around 14 inches tall. 

She has light skin, blue eyes, pink lips and rosy red cheeks. 
Her facial feature are hand embroidered and her cheeks are coloured with a wax crayon. Her hair is very soft white mohair crocheted into a cap. Occasionally it can be delicately brushed with a comb.

Maya loves playing a lot... She is a wonderful companion.

However, from time to time, Maya is cross with me I do not know why, 

and then she does not like chatting. Luckily it does not usually last long...,

Come on, don't be cross with me, Maya! 

because she quickly forgets and is happy again.

Maya is wearing a pretty blue dress, white and greenish trousers and violet blend shoes. Her playful little ponytails are tied with a white ribbon. When there is a special day Maya ties a band with two flowers around her hair.

I made her with a lot of love and attention to details, 

and it was such a fun to be with her all this time.

Maya is waiting to find her own family and is hoping for a wonderful adventure in her life. She would like to give huggs, smiles and fun.

39. What is Marianne like?

MARIANNE is a lovely Waldorf girl-doll, a true doll with soul. She is ready to love 

and hoping she will find a home with someone to play with soon... 

She is waiting impatiently  for a new adventure in her little doll's life.

She is firmly stuffed with clean, carded sheepswool, but soft enough for hugging. Her head is created in the traditional Waldorf style. Marianne's simple facial features are embroidered with floss. Her face is delicately coloured with wax crayon. She has coloured cheecks and nose. For her hair I have chosen several kinds of different woolen yarns, like mohair and boucle, of different thickness and colours. I made her hair by applying strand by strand to the embroidered head. It is very strong. Her hair can be changed, and it needs to be finger styled.

Because she is made of sheepswool, Marianne is soft, warm and nice to the touch. It is very pleasing to hold her and cuddle. She smells of home and gives her little friend a sense of security. 
MARIANNE comes with two complete outfits of clothing:

37. Marianne's dress

Much to my surprise Marianne told me she would like to have a long dress.

"I'd love to have one. It would remind me of something." - added she.

"Really?" - I was still taken aback. 

So far I have never made a long dress. My dolls did not ask me to do this. So it is going to be for the first time. 

And I started picturing a dress for Marianne. 

I remembered a lovely long dress I saw on Gabi Moench-Ford's "FairyWoolDolls" blog  

whose dolls I really admire. Suddenly I wanted to make a similar dress for Marianne.

When it is getting cold Marianne puts on a dark and red shawl knitted from the same wool  

as her bootees and a ribbon for her hair..., and a funny yellow pixie bonnet.

As you can see the bonnet is warm and big enough to be easily put on her hair .

Sometimes Marianne wears a cardigan. 

She really likes it, especially when she plays outdoors and it is cold.

When we strolled yesterday it was chilly.  

However after a while the weather changed a bit and we even had some sunshine. 

Marianne immediately took off her hat...

Helen - the doll for Hania - custom order.

Helen is a Waldorf inspired doll. She is about 14 inches tall. She was made from a special cotton jersey designed for dollmakers (swiss cotton with Oko-Tex label). It is firmly stuffed with clean, carded sheepswool, but soft enough for hugging.

Her head is sculptured in the traditional Waldorf style. Helen's simple facial features (eyes and lips) are embroidered with floss. In her face you can notice a tiny tip of the nose. For her medium-length hair I have chosen a light brown woolen mohair for hair.  It is a woolen yarn specially produced  for dollmakers in beautiful natural colours. It is certified with EN71-3 label, which means it can be safely used in doll making. I made her hair by applying strand by strand to the embroidered , with the same yarn, head. It is very strong. Her hairstyle can be easily changed, and it needs to be finger styled. From time to time you can comb her hair using a comb with rare teeth to make it more fluffy. Helen's hair is very natural, it looks like children's hair. Her face is delicately coloured with wax crayon. She has coloured cheeks and nose.

As she is made of sheepswool. Helen is soft, warm and nice to the touch. It is very pleasing to hold her and cuddle. She smells of home and gives her little friend a sense of security.

The doll has quite many clothes. I made them in accordance with Hania's Mom suggestions. It was my pleasure to cooperate with her. Thank you Ania.

Helen comes with the following outfit of clothing: cotton pants, light coloured cotton dress, dark blue cotton pinafore, two pairs of leggings (vanila and pink) made from cotton velvet, navy-blue wollen shoes, grey-blue woolen cardigan, woolen cap in the colour of the blue of the sea, grey woolen foxy scarf, pale green socks-bootees, pink cotton night dress and two red and grey woolen ribbons to tie her hair. Her clothes are mostly in blue shades, with beige and red accents.
The doll herself and all her clothes I made from natural materials such as cotton jersey, cotton, cotton velvet, sheepswool and many different kinds of wool.
